In order to be considered, candidates are required to possess a 3.0 GPA, 80%, and should be International students.
Application process:
In order to apply for admission, applicants are required to submit their applications through the university’s website: “https://admissions.kingsu.ca/account/login?r=https%3a%2f%2fadmissions.kingsu.ca%2fportal%2fstatus”. Then, all qualifying candidates are given the opportunity to be accepted for admission.
Supporting Documents:
Applicants are required to provide the University with official transcripts from their high school and any institution of higher education they have attended, including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate, JEM, Capernwray and similar programs.
Admission Requirements:
To be eligible to participate in an undergraduate program, students are required to successfully complete the university’s general admission requirements:
- Completion of English 30-1 or equivalent;
- Three courses must be standard 12th grade courses;
- One additional standard or non-standard 12th grade course;
- An overall average of 60% or higher.
Conditions of Language:
It is important for all candidates to be able to successfully complete their academic studies in English. These skills should be proven independently of the applicant’s nationality or country of origin.
English language abilities for foreign students:
60% on the Alberta English Language Arts 30-1 Diploma Exam, without the blended level, or 60% on the Alberta English Language Arts 30-1 blended level, or the equivalent course from another Canadian province.
Transfer courses:
For candidates submitting an application from a different post-secondary educational institution.
- ENGL 214 or 215 with a minimum grade of C on a 4.00 scale, or B- for B.Ed. candidates.
- A passing grade in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
Normalized tests:
For students who have taken or plan to take a standardized exam.
- IELTS Academic module with an overall score of 6.5, minimum score of 5.5 on each band.
- TOEFL iBT with an overall score of 88, minimum score of 21 in each section.
- TOEFL Revised Paper-Delivered Test with an overall score of 64, minimum score of 21 in each section.
- *TOEFL exams must have been taken within the last two years. The TOEFL code for King’s University is 9232.
- Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE) with an overall score of at least 59.
- Canadian Academic English Language Test (CAEL) or CAEL Online with a minimum score of 70.
- Cambridge English Assessment C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency test.
- SATs written after March 2016 with a 610 on the reading and writing section (if written before 2016, 550 is required on the reading and writing section).
- Duolingo English test with an overall score of 115 or higher, with a minimum of 95 in each section.
Candidates failing to achieve the required level of English language proficiency listed below:
If an applicant does not qualify for the King’s university standard English language proficiency requirements, they are eligible to complete the King’s university English Language Benchmark Assessment Test (ELSAT), assuming it is delivered:
- They already live in Edmonton;
- They are an adult applicant (over the age of 21) or;
- They are an applicant who has attended a secondary school at home.
